Before PacGenomics, Dr. Liu was a co-founder and CEO of PGD Science, Inc., a well-known FISH-based PGT-A company based in Southern California, which is now partnered with PacGenomics. Dr. Liu has in-depth genomics knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in embryo biopsy and PGT-A for IVF. Dr. Liu received his M.D. degree from Tongji Medical University in China and practiced neurosurgery prior to co-founding PGD Science, Inc. He leads the PacGenomics team with his innovative spirit and desire to improve the status quo of health care services through single-cell technologies.
Hongjie Zhang is PacGenomics’ Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for the overall company management and business operations. He is also focused on supply chain, regulation, medical coding/billing, CRO and global technology and operating strategy. Hongjie received his Ph.D in Physics from the University of California in Los Angeles; conducted postdoctoral research as a fellow at the Fusion Science and Technology Center at the UCLA; and earned his B.Sc with Honors in Computer Science and ME from the University of Science and Technology of China. He is the Member of American Nuclear Society, Member of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Technology Testing, US member of several collaborative Fusion Technology Programs with Europe, Japan, China, and Korea.
Dr. Yuan Gao is a pioneering researcher and entrepreneur known for his significant contributions to non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) through next-generation sequencing and cell-free DNA. His collaboration with Professor Dennis Lo‘s group at the Chinese University of Hong Kong resulted in a groundbreaking protocol, recognized as a top 10 medical breakthrough by Time Magazine in 2008. Dr. Gao co-developed the influential BSPP technology for large-scale targeted DNA methylation sequencing, featured on the cover of Nature Biotechnology in 2009, which became the foundation for Singlera Genomics, a venture that has attracted over $200 million in venture capital, co-founded by Dr. Gao and Professor Kun Zhang. He also contributed to the development of digital information storage in DNA alongside Professor George Church, published in Science in 2012. In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Gao is the founder and President of Med Data Quest, Inc., dedicated to clinical natural language processing and machine learning for precision medicine. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s in Bioscience, a Master‘s in Biochemistry, and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Computer Science. Dr. Gao’s impressive career includes post-doctoral training with George Church at Harvard and leadership roles, including Director of Genomics, Epigenomics, and Bioinformatics at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
James Eastman joined the PacGenomics team in October of 2023 in the role of Director of Sales. James brings with him over 20 years’ experience in the fields of Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Biotech and Diagnostics. James has worked with some of the largest publicly traded companies such as Genzyme (Sanofi), Medtronic, Foundation Medicine and Guardant Health. He thrives in the start-up space and was instrumental in gaining national notoriety for companies such as Caris Life Sciences as well as IDbyDNA (acquired by Illumina). James has built high performing sales teams, coached numerous direct reports to win prestigious sales awards and has grown revenue substantially through cross functional collaboration and an allergy to failure. James served in the US Army, in the capacity of Paratrooper/fire team leader and can be found in the great outdoors in his time off, on the rivers and back country of Montana
MP George MS, Chief Toxicologist. MP comes with over 30 years of experience in toxicology and management with Quest Diagnostics and Alere (Now Abbott Labs). MP has been involved with the Federal Government drug testing program since 1988 and served as an advisory board member of the Health and Human Services. MP was involved in the Atlanta Olympic testing program in 1996 and St Petersburg Good Will game testing program in 1994.
Sean Liu is a Compliance Officer at PacGenomics with a distinguished profile in laboratory management, including board certifications in Laboratory Management (LMU), Immunohistochemistry (QIHC), and Molecular Biology (MB) from ASCP. He is a California State CBMGS trainee and possesses a strong proficiency in CAP inspection and various accreditation processes, ensuring the highest standards of compliance excellence. Sean‘s expertise extends to ISO13485/FDA, CAP/CLIA/ISO15189, and ISO/IEC 17025 certifications, making him a reliable authority in quality assurance. He has a proven track record in regulatory affairs, excelling in communication with FDA, CDPH, CMS, and other relevant agencies. Sean’s leadership extends to managing high-profile projects for top CRO/CMO/pharma partners and government agencies or investors, consistently meeting critical regulatory milestones. Notably, he serves as a Principal Investigator for NIH awards, including SBIR, R01, and U01, focused on compliance-related projects, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field.
Kathryn is a clinical laboratory scientist with years of experience in the field of clinical molecular biology with emphasis on automated instrumentation and process improvement. She has a doctorate degree in medicine with an extensive knowledge in clinical laboratory application. She holds a license in the state of California as a generalist. Her goal is to apply her knowledge and skills in the development of solutions for the improvement of health outcomes and the betterment of the quality of life.
Dr. Zheng Fu is currently the Head of Bioinformatics / Clinical Data Science in PacGenomics. Before joined in PacGenomics, he was a Staff Scientist, Data Science at Thermo Fisher Scientifics and in charge of developing advanced machine learning models and as well as data driven strategies. Dr Fu. also participated in a few pioneering research projects on both fundamental and clinical immunology, and his achievements were published in several peer-reviewed articles, including but not limited to Nature Immunology and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology etc. Dr. Zheng Fu earned his MBA degree from UCSD Rady Management School, Ph.D. degree in Computational Chemistry (Major) and Statistics (Minor) from University of Florida with The William R. & Arlene F. Ruegamer Award in Excellence Research, M.S. in Computer Science with Machine Learning Specialization from Georgia Institution of Technology, and B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University.
Dr. Li is a highly accomplished medical professional in the field of reproductive medicine, with a rich educational journey that began at Tongji Medical University in Wuhan, China. Her passion for obstetrics and gynecology was nurtured during her residency there, and she continued to expand her expertise with a PhD from the Reproductive Medicine and Research Center at Sun Yat-sen Medical University in Guangzhou, China. Her international exposure and research contributions were further enhanced during her Post-Doctoral Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Li’s dedication is underscored by her certifications, including High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) in various disciplines and her role as a Certified Laboratory Specialist in Molecular Biology (CLSMB). Additionally, her California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license reflects her commitment to staying at the forefront of her profession. She is an active member of medical societies like the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS), showcasing her ongoing engagement and contributions to the field of reproductive medicine.
